When the cargo won't fitthe liner schedule.

Overview

We do not own tonnage. That is the advantage.

A carrier sells you the space it has. A broker finds the space that fits your cargo. We hold working relationships across shipping lines, vessel operators, terminal operators and airlines, and we use them to secure competitive freight rates and reliable capacity for consignments the scheduled trades handle badly — full and part cargoes, heavy lift, and shipments where the discharge conditions matter as much as the rate.

Capabilities

Enterprise-grade capabilities, engineered for West African operations.

Voyage charter

A vessel fixed for a defined cargo on a defined route, priced per tonne or as a lump sum freight.

Time charter

Tonnage taken for a period where a programme of shipments needs assured capacity rather than a single lift.

Part cargo & consolidation

A share of a vessel's capacity where a full charter is more capacity than the cargo needs.

Air charter

Chartered aircraft for time-critical and oversized consignments, compared against sea on landed cost and transit.

Charter party negotiation

Terms, laytime, loading and discharge rates and demurrage exposure negotiated and explained before fixture.

Freight rate benchmarking

Rates tested across our operator network so the fixture reflects the market, not the first quote.

Process

How we deliver, step by step.

  1. 01

    Cargo & route brief

    Day 1

Commodity, tonnage, dimensions, load and discharge ports, and the window it has to move in.

  2. 02

    Market search

    Days 2–5

We canvass suitable tonnage across our operator relationships and report the realistic options.

  3. 03

    Terms & fixture

    On agreement

Charter party terms negotiated, laytime and demurrage set out, and the fixture confirmed.

  4. 04

    Load & documentation

    At load port

Loading supervised and coordinated with clearance and transport, with documents issued against the charter.

  5. 05

    Discharge & settlement

    On arrival

Discharge coordinated at destination and laytime reconciled so demurrage or despatch is settled on evidence.

Why Cosmopolitan

Built for enterprise trust.

01

Independent of any one carrier

We are not selling our own space, so the recommendation follows the cargo rather than the fleet.

02

Charter terms explained

Laytime and demurrage are where charters cost money. We translate the clauses into what they mean for you.

03

Joined to clearance

The same company clearing the cargo arranged the vessel, so nothing is lost between the two.

04

Deep operator network

Long-standing relationships with lines, operators and terminals across our trading lanes.
